Fungus Knat question

Hey I was just wondering anyone know if fungus gnat eggs can stay dormant? wow I just saw I spelled gnat with a K that makes me feel like an idiot. The reason I wanted to know is since I put the pothos in the new pot ive seen a few count around 5 of these nasties, so far no root rot and no infestation, but some of the leaves on the pothos are yellowing and wilting im trying to let the pot dry out as much as possible to prevent an outbreak of the little monsters.

NM I found the answer. Since the soil I used was a bag that was outside for a while the eggs can lay dormant in the soil until conditions are favored for them to hatch.
