full clean out

im planning on doing this very soon for my veiled (i spot clean daily also) but im just wondering how i should do it as all the vines and bamboo are attached via cable ties and it will be a right pain to remove all of them and then put more back as i have to bend some of the mesh to fit them in :)

If you can move the cage then move it outside and hose it down? Instead of spotting cleaning for a full cage clean do a "super wash spot clean":)

If you can't take a washcloth(wet) and scrub away so you dont have to move anything

You don't have to remove all of it, I imagine. You can take out the plants and what not, and just wipe the vines and branches with a disinfectant or something, and then hose off the entire cage (if you have a hose).

I have the same problem... all my chameleons furnishings are zip tied down with bendy vines wrapping around everything... it would be a humungous pain to have to disassemble it all the time...

luckily they live in 18x18x36 screen enclosure, and thankfully its not heavy at all so I simply lift it from my room and carry it outside (chameleon removed of course). From there I hose it down with the garden hose set to hot ( though I don't think its "boiling" ). I then have a special spray bottle used just for cleaning solutions. I use a 1:3 mix of Lemon based viru-cide (contains bleach and all the other good stuff  but with a nice lemon scent) and water. I spray down the cages with that and let it sit for 5 minutes, then I hose the cage down again.

By now all the poop I never found during the week is on the bottom of the cage so I unlatch the bottom and let it fall out, then I hose it one last time and set it to dry in the sun.

I find this method works well and keeps the cages from every becoming smelly or moldy. No health problems with the chameleons noted so far by using the viru-cide. But I rinse it down really really well.

hope that can help
