Fruit Fly culture question

Hi,
I have a few cultures going and they are going well, I was on Joshs Frogs site and watched a video of how they make the cultures and they used a mite spray on paper towels and then set the cultures on top of that. I forgot to order the spray. Can I use a mite spray from a garden supply store the same way? I have seen multiple organic sprays.
Also I dont think I have ever seen mites. Any links or a description of what I should be on the look out for as far as the mites go...

Mites will be tiny tiny white/clearish bugs inside the cultures. I often stared at cultures for minutes before I realized they were swarmed with mites.

I now use mite/insecticidal shelf paper. It usually lasts 3-4 months before it needs replacing. Since I have started using it I have not had mite issues.

Thanks! I will order some Mite paper but will not have it here until next week. Do you know if any of the big box stores cary mite paper? I happend to be at Home Depot this morning and they did not carry any and they had no clue what I was talking about, time to go stare at my cultures

Some hardware stores sell it but I was unable to find it, had to order it as well
