Free Ranging Questions

Alright, So I'm considering having my 3 month old cham free ranged. However, I'm quite confused on certain things. How can you make a free range where chams cant wander off? And where can you place the uvb (I'm getting a linear uvb) and the heat lamps? I'm getting a MistKing, so where can I place the nozzles? Please leave your feedback. If possible, providing a detailed picture of a good free ranged set up would be amazing! Thanks!

I like to make my free range areas mounted. I take a stick and screw it in to the studs of the wall and then build off of that stick using it as an anchor. This way the chameleon can't get down to the ground to roam and it also allows them to be at the highest vantage point...which they like.

Although others may disagree with me, I wouldn't free range a 3 month old chameleon just yet. I would let it get to the 6-8 month point before doing so. Now if you're building a free range just for your cham to have some time outside of her enclosure every day...then I'm all for it. Most of my free ranges are my cham's permanent homes, that's why I say let her get a little older if the free range is meant to be permanent.

You could use a humidifier from walmart or another store in that room.

I have cool mist humidifiers in that room......and it doesn't hurt that there is an open top fish tank directly below him!!

He has once or twice and it was nasty...especially since the fish all started eating it. I have a plexiglass shelf that comes out over it..but still elevated. You have a melleri, so you know how big those poops are!

Thanks for all the Info guys! I'm going back and forth on whether to get panther or a veiled. I think I settled Into a panther. The picture below is the sire of the yellow body red barred ambilobe baby i will be getting.

Do your research and do it right the first time.There are a lot of different ways to keep a cham. with sound husbandry practices. IMHO, If I were to do it all over again, I'd get a Dragonstrand enclosure with a tropicblaze light system and a Mist-King mister. Like I said, others may not agree, but if I had to do it all over again.........
