Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about

Slight swelling, redness/ fleshy like sore on the underside of foot at the base of the toenail.
Does not affect his grip at all, but it does seem sensitive to the touch.
I will get pics tomorrow, suns setting and hes hunkering down for the night.

Could be an infection....
This is my suspicion, but ive never dealt with it before so i cant say...

It sounds like an infected toe. Maybe from hurting one of his nails when climbing screen.
If you are referring to actual screen, he has never had a screen cage. Either a glass terrarium or the tube cage which is 1/4 x 1/4 coated hardware cloth. I suppose its possible to have done it on the hardware cloth though

Okay tapatalk is being a piece of......trash right now! I been trying to upload these all day!

Whenever the hose comes on he is right on the hw cloth soaking in it. Thats the only time. I will get some pics of him on it if i catch him.

Should I apply something to the toes? Or does this constitute a vet visit?

I have some neosprin and polysporin if either of those can help

Sorry hes injured. ;/

Should not be a huge issue if you keep it from getting infected.

I would clean his foot with diluted betadine, maybe even a good soaking in it.

Then use the polysporin on it daily (maybe twice daily as its a highly used and abused area) until it is well.

I agree with snake.
Just keep it clean and put something on it and watch it carefully.
If it starts getting worse, time for a vet visit.
But those things usually clear up on there own.

when I used that soaking on my mellers, I cut it down to 25% of what you buy it at if that makes any sense. I only soaked Athena's foot about 30 seconds. I wrapped her in a towel first. That was easier on both of us. Hope he gets better soon. very well might clear up on it's own but why not assist it?

I have no idea of an exact ratio would be optimum, but I use about 2:1 ratio (water and betadine respectively). Just dont use it straight as it burns a bit. ;P

My thoughts exactly, Id rather not risk it getting any worse even if possible to clear up on its own. Fortunately i doubt i will need a towel for him, he is one of the most docile chams imaginable now and thats no exaggeration :) He lets me check his feet without any issue and will even sit there whilst removing the pesky shed between his horns!

Thanks man, I will use it at 2:1 and reduce if he seems irritated or bothered :)

In the mean time im going to bring him inside til this clears up, I hate to do it because he isnt going to like it one bit. But its probably better to especially if its the hw cloth causing it

Might be a good idea.

This is the first time hes been away from the glass yes?

So hes probably just not used to clinging to the cloth yet.

Id let him chill inside for a few days to a week, then let him try again.

Maybe he will have learned his lesson. ;)

Yep, first time. He has had a few days here and there last year but never this long.
