Flexarium

I used a 3'x3'x6' flexarium for housing, for quite some time. They work well and are inexpensive.

Its now used as a outdoor sun cage since I purchased a 2'x2'x4' LLL Alum Screen cage.

Did you have any specific questions about using one?

I just wanted to know how sterdy they were and if the flextray is easy enough to remove as we do have a few drainage issues.

Im also in the UK and am looking for a new cage.....I was tempted to get a flexarium aswell but I have read that they arnt all that sturdy and the mesh on them is quite hard to see through so I was put off by them :(

Now looking at bulding a new cage instead!

They are ok, for the money.

You really get what you pay for. I like them as sun cages and such.

They are a bit shakey, but they are pvc after all. The soft trays in the bottom will hold water and they extend 4" up the sides to prevent water from splashing out.

What type of cage do you have currently? Compairing most aluminum screen cages to flex style cages will leave little to be desired out of the flex.

Pros: Light, easy to setup and tear down, cheap does what it's supposed to (hold your chameleon)

Cons: shakey, zippers to fumble with, course mesh (no small flies will stay in), need a support brace for light fixtures.

All in all I'd say they are great for the money, and work well. I use them for sun cages and use Aluminum cages for permanant housing. If its all you can get or afford, they work fine.

I just ordered (3) more 16.5"x16.5"x30" from LLL yesterday, for sun cages.:)

Hmmm, I think I'm less likely to get one now. I would prefer a more rigid cage. Maybe I can talk Joe into building one =D

Malicious, do you have any pics of your flexarium with your chams in it? Just wanted to see it properly and not the pictures that Exo Terra provide. I wanted to see how see through it was and stuff.

Thanks

Here is a row of them-I use many of them to permanently house chams and water dragons and have never had an issue. The ones on the table are sitting on plastic tote lids to catch water, the smaller one has a softray and I have always hated them. It is just easier for the water go through them rather than the gunk that gets trapped between the plastic bars and the softray. Once a month or so I take the cage out and give it a good power washing with the hose and use some 10% bleach water with dish soap to give them a good wash.

For the money you can't really go wrong with them!

Here's mine currently:

I'm only looking to build a new enclosure now as I want to give my guy some more space.

Hi Julirs,

Thanks! Doesn't look too bad I think we may consider it. I was unsure about the plastic tray and I thought it could prove difficult so thanks for sharing that. We're thinking about getting one of those as we want to move Tilly from what she is in asap. Maybe we could get one and start to build one for a more permanent home =D
