Fischers are SO underrated...why??

This of course means that many owners do not love chameleons -- they love seeming as cool and rad as possible when they post pictures with their animal on facebook or walk down the sidewalk with their panther on their arm...

As someone who has posted roughly a bazillion pictures of my chameleons on facebook I can tell you I do it because I am crazy about them - not to look cool (from my screen name you can probably guess I post a lot of photos)

We went away this weekend and I missed them so much! I practically was yelling at my hubby to drive faster on the way home so I could get home and see them. Next trip I want to rent a motor home so we can bring them!

My point is - I would hope that anyone who is lucky enough to have a chameleon of any kind would love it. They are all amazing!

I think most people buy veilds, panthers and jacksons because they are the "recommended starter chameleon."
I honestly think its strange that jacksons are considered a starter chameleon, they can be just as unforgiving with bad husbandry as any intermediate chameleon. I believe with proper education and preparation almost any chameleon can be a "starter" chameleon.
It's sad so many chameleon species are over looked, may be when people ask "What kind of chameleon should I get" instead of jumping in and saying veild,panther or jackson maybe they should be asked what kind of chameleon interest you and can you house it properly.

I agree with you. I also don't understand how Jacksons are supposedly a good starter chameleon...their care doesn't vary too much from a fischer well depending on the fischer. What I do know and have researched is WC fischers tend to have a failure to thrive in captivity, maybe Jacksons aren't so susceptible to this?? In one of my local pet stores they sell Jacksons...also have a lot of problems caring for them and giving people the right info...then again they don't even have UVBs!

Personally, it's almost easier to care for my Fischer in terms of care as I usually have higher humidity and I've barely had any days over the summer where it's reached over 80. I don't have a problem with temps and humidity but it may be difficult for someone else. Just today someone posted whether they should get a Jackson or Panther and I believe decided for a Panther as their care seemed more manageable to them.

Well, being in Canada, it comes down to what's available. If I want *anything* other than a Panther or a Veiled, I have to get wc, which I have. It would be nice to have some cb options, even if the price was significantly higher.

My multituberculatas are great. I had a problem with a female that wouldn't accept ANY egg laying site that I offered her. I have 2 adult males that are absolutely the most interesting chameleons ever. They have very unique personalities. I never thought that I would say that about chameleons, but they are very different. One of my males and female did the deed tonight. Pretty stoked. If you ask me, she was begging for it. The female is 11 months old and has been so lime green in color, I introduced the male tonight, and she literally raised her tail and pointed 'it' at him! Can't wait to see how this turns out. Hey Seeco, expect some multiple PMs in the next 12 months

I wish it'd be easier for people to get a high quality cham other then veileds and panthers, they are great chameleons, don't get me wrong, but I like having options

Awesome looking pair you have. Poor Seeco will also be receiving multiple PMs from me as well when I decide to buy a female (*note I say when and not if lol) and then breed. My guy also has this incredible personality and loves to be outside, he's definitely not shy. Anytime I happen to find an article about them it always mentions how shy and mean multis can be...yeah my guy and mean don't go together. Good luck with the eggs...ha I can bother you now too!!

Yes sir, that is your female. I removed a divider I had between their cages about a week ago just to see what kind of reaction I got from either. The male went nuts with the head bobbing and the female didn't really seem stressed at all. I continued this for the week and everytime I would , she would lose her patterned color phase and display a lime-green/pale yellow color scheme. I introduced him into her cage last night and she practiclly lifted her tail and held her hand in a 'karate-chop' position and let him mount. Really stoked. I'm ecstatic and a nervous wreck at the same time. I hope all goes well and better than the other little girl.

Multis are great chameleons. They have tons of character and are pretty easy chams to keep if parameters are met. Kinyongia is the best genus by far!!!!
