I got that cage with the 3 sides plastic, and absolutely love it. After doing the math on building my own cage and buying, for the money, Dragon Strand is really good value.
It will take a couple of hours to build, it comes in a flatpack like Ikea furniture. it is really easy to setup though, just screws, and the directions are workable.
I put a 150 watt basking bulb in a dome cover right on top of the screen. The screen is metal, so it is not a problem.
For my environment I need the plastic walls on 3 sides since the temperature in the room the cage is in gets cold and I have a ceramic heater in the dome cover as well.
Search for Dragon Strand in these forums and others have posted some really good information I used when deciding on which cage to purchase.
I also got the tray which is pretty sturdy, but not as sturdy as what I imaged viewing the picture. I don't know the material, but you need a solid 2 X 2 table to set it on, the pans do not have much if any structural value.
The cage is essentially made of screen frames, so the table or stand it is on needs to be sturdy.
As for the stand, I made a stand with plywood and pine legs since the size is bigger than a most shelving units at the hardware store. I would not get and 18 inch deep shelf and let the edges hang off. It would work, but not be very stable. You could start with a narrower shelf, but the whole base should be on a 2 x 2 foot 1/4 inch or 5/8 inch plywood base for sturdy support.
Also the dragon ledges are great, no more hokey hooking up of things to the walls, everything is secure and solid, it is a well built cage.
