few quest. while waiting for cham

I'm waiting on a Quad to be shipped from FLChams, and I want to make sure everything will be correct. first is regarding humidity, i have the plastic, circle zoo med gauge that uses a needle for reading. How accurate/useful can this be, should I just trash it and buy something else? Testing things out, it read 60 and fairly close to 70 after misting, which i guess is possible since i live in FL. If i need something else, what's a standard, reliable hygrometer? hopefully not something too expensive...

Also, if that gauge reads correctly, when i have the fogger and automated mist going, it seems like 90-100 humidity could be achieved and even constant if I wanted it that way. I know this would most definitly be a problem for a vieled or something, but should I also be trying to find some sort of balance for the Quad? Something along the lines of mostly keeping it at 70-80% and only higher for short periods of time? or is there no such as thing as "too much humidity" for these guys?

also, i was wondering if I could get a little more specific info on the "less feeding and less supplementation" thing for montanes. and my final question is about housing, right now i only have the starter kit size from screameleons. Would it be okay to keep him in that for a few days, until the 2' x 2' x 4' arrives? I mean, it wouldn't kill him or stress him too bad, would it?

i'm probably forgetting something...i'll just post in this topic later if I did.

All i know is about these exoterra type needle hygrometers. These are crap! They show numbers + - 40% mistake :) And i am serious. I had one. When bought digital they were not showing even close one to other!
As for the digital - some members told that any digital hygrometer is fine!

Hope that gives the idea!

yes, that helps a lot, if thats the case im sure its better to avoid all the plastic needle hygrometers. that much of a difference is really playing with fire! thanks, that takes care of one of my concerns.

Yes, those are crap. If you go to Walmart, they have a really nice one. It's a digitial thermo and humitidy one. It only cost about 10-14 dollars depending on where you live and it comes with a probe so you can keep the unit out of the enclosure so it won't get ruined. I have an extra one if you want to travel to NH to get it. lol.

no thanks...not worth the thousand mile drive or so, lol. but im really kicking myself now, i wasnt even thinking about the probe thing. I hope I can find a way to safely keep it in the cage, i just bought one on ebay that is made for incubating eggs, apparently.

also, any chance I can get some answers for my other concerns from anyone??? I'm slightly obsessing over these small things.

If its the same male quad Mike had with us at the Tampa show last weekend, it will be fine in a mid sized enclosure for some time yet. Here are a couple pics I took of him last weekend:

wow, thanks a lot for that, he looks good! that patch of skin shows more color than i expected from a quad, was he fired up? anyway, i guess if that was from FLChams at the show, then it must be the same quad. website said it was a young male and seemed to imply they had just one.
