Are females really that much more work to care for compared to a male ?

The big issue with females is that they lay eggs without having been mated and if their husbandry isn't right, they will most likely have reproductive issues like follicular stasis or dystocia.

So I have a male and so far he hasn’t had any issues. Would you say I shouldn’t have any issues with husbandry ?

So from the outside looking in with all my friends that have females. The only husbandry difference is the basking temps you keep, feeder amounts, and providing a permanent lay bin. When these are all done correctly along with the rest of overall husbandry females can live long lives.

Your chameleon should live a long healthy life if your husbandry is right...but we can't be sure nothing will happen to him since any creature can develop health issues like cancer, etc that we can't predict.
