female veiled egg laying advice...

Hey all, my veiled chameleon is visibly gravid( you can see outlines of eggs) she was mated 33 days ago. the day before yesterday (wednesday) was her 1st day she didnt eat) still drinking when misted. yesterday she was all over her tank. she has had laying bin in her tank since 20 days after mating. she been going into it but has not dug in the soil. she has a 2.5 feet bucket almost full of damp top soil. shes only been restless andnot eating since yesterday but i am wondering if she should be digging?

try starting a hole for her. see if that works. um, if not then try putting her in a bin that is deep enough for her to not get out. and just leave her on there for a day. but if she doesn't lay them soon i say vet

also i wanted to add that since yesterday i closed off all thrée sides of the tank so there were no distractions from outside the tank. while leaving the back and top open. (sceen in on all sides and top and bottom but bottom has repti carpet and lay bin with soil on that.) she is misted still 3 times daily for approx 2 -3 minutes or until she stopps drinking

okay so for a laying bin what about a 38 ltr rubber maid tote. i am currently using it as a cricket keeper causei buy 1000 boxes of crickets. i have an empty one that i could fill half full with soil and still put her light on top cause theres a scrén top cut into it. would that work for external laying bin? i cant make it to store until after supper to buy a large tub like forum recommends for laying bin

I JUST went through my first veiled egg-laying experience, so I hope this helps! And trust me... I was a worried mess the whole time :) Cami had her eggs on day 25, but for 5 days before her lay, she paced the cage back and forth nearly nonstop. 3 days before the lay, she stopped eating. Even though she had a laying bin in her habitat, she did not dig in it at all until she was ready to lay. I thin put her in her larger laying bin, and gave her no way to escape, and left her there. 4 hours later, I had 41 eggs :) With your cham, if she does not lay by day 40 or 41, I would go to a vet to get her checked. but at day 33, she still has a little time!

update

k so yesterday i started a hole and i seen her digging but all she did was cover my hole lol she stopped moving soil around once it was even again. today if she hasnt laid i am going to put her in the external egg laying chamber that jann b recommended in her egg laying blog and see if giving her nothing to do but dig if that makes any difference.
