Female veiled chameleon help

Hi all!
Im new to female chameleons, before I got it my female cham, had no idea that it can even lay eggs without a male. I read this webpage; raisingkitty.... and I believe it says that its possible to drastically reduce the clutch sizes or prevent them from laying eggs, but honestly I dont understand how. The website text is a little confusing IMO. My question is, Can your reduce the clutch sizes or prevent them from laying eggs? If so, how?

P.S the female cham is a sub-adult. Its been with me for a week and is relatively friendly towards everyone in my family. Its very healthy overall. My enclosure has a temp of 73<90 at basking area (not sure if humidity matters in this case but 50%>20% at basking area).

Thanks in advance
Sorry if I sound stupid

You don't sound stupid at all. Welcome to the forum. You have come to the right place for answers. I do not keep females but many on here do and will respond soon.:)

Hi! That link is a great source of info and yes, you can help reduce clutch size and the possibility of infertile eggs.

If you keep the basking temp to 80 and feed no more than 4-6 bugs every other day you then there should be less chance of her making eggs. However thus is just a guide and some females will lay no matter what so its important to always have a laying site available at all times.

Here is some great info from some great keepers

Thank you very much! I wasn't asking because I dont want to deal with the eggs, instead because it reduces the life span of the chameleon

Absolutely! That's a good and valid reason :) it's great that you're researching and you're in the right place!

My female laid about 3 weeks ago and is doing well. We couldn't have done it without the forum. Although I was strict with temps and diet she still laid 44 little eggs!
