Hello. I am a first time chameleon owner. About a month ago I welcomed my first chameleon, Juno (a female veiled chameleon about 6 months old according to the pet shop). A few weeks after I got her she started developing yellow spots. I did my research and found that this means she would soon lay eggs? I prepped and placed a laying bin with moist sand in her enclosure and refresh it every day, but she has not yet dropped her eggs.
I am starting to get worried because she is now showing some alarming signs. She has recently (this week) stopped eating, she will pace in her cage from top to bottom, passing crickets on her way. Her colors are also starting to get a lot darker than usual, and I have noticed her eyes look a little more sunken in than usual. I think it may be dehydration, but I am not sure.
Every day I spray her cage at least four times for an average of 2-4 minutes each time. I am sure to wet the leaves theroughly and I wet the top of the cage to create water droplets. The pet shop owner told me that they spray their chams twice a day and have no problems with dehydration, but now I'm not so sure.
If anyone has any advice, please let me know! Juno and I would really appreciate it!
