My Female Veiled just showed some amazing awesome colours tonight... Are these her breeding colours ?

Should i put a bin of soil in there tomorrow for her to dig in ? I've never mated her, nor has she ever been with a male, but i read that they can lay eggs anyways... So i was just wondering

Figured i'd ask... This is the very first time she's Showed me these colours of her's...

( I grabbed this picture off of google, to show you the colours.. as she changed back to green when i went to get my camera! but she had alot more yellow and stuff in her then this girl)

She will first be receptive. I'm not sure how long she will stay receptive, but mine stay receptive for a couple of weeks. If she isn't mated she will become gravid with unfertilized eggs. May I suggest you read this blog put together by one of our own. It is really a great place to go to read up on veileds.

Thanks! yeah i already read this like four times ... thanks for the link tho... doesn't hurt to read it again.. She's still pretty young, and showing these colours..so i was just wondering what was up!?!

like if i should put something down for her to digg around in , so hence my post

Ok, i might just put one in there to be on the safe side... what should i use in there for her to dig in ?

and my picture that i attached looked more of the colours that she was showing...

I think your girl was just fired up ... angry or upset at something.
When they display receptive coloration, it tends to stay (full time) for a week or two (or in our case 5 weeks).

Hmmm weird... she's never ever done that.. and i can't figure out what she was mad or upset about.. lol there was nothing in the room or around her to bug her , her cage is perfectly set up too

i don't know how long she was in those colours for.. but as soon as she spotted me, she changed back to green.. LOL..

If she starts to get fat and lumpy, starts exploring the bottom of her enclosure, stops eating ... she for sure needs a laying container;)
Just observe her closely for a few weeks.

Sounds good! She has been down around the bottom a few times i've noticed.. but nothing major...

What do you use for laying containers ? like what substrate ?

Thanks again! :)
