Female Pygmy getting ready to lay again??

Hey everyone. It seems that these pygmies never stop lol. I have been seeing one of my female bearded pygmy chameleons going to the back right corner of their cage and digging a hole. Why she is digging is what my question is. I know there is a chance she is gravid but is it normal for her to leave, dig..leave, dig and do this repeatedly? She digs and then leaves the hole. Then she comes back. Im confused

Also those who didnt see my infertile pygmy egg? thread yesterday...i found an egg that was dented up and half of it was orange. I dont know if that helps.

Hey Stefan! I can only tell you that some of my chams have done the same thing. It seems they must practice digging holes before they feel they are up to the challenge!:D I wouldn't worry too much, just keep doing what you're doing and keep them healthy!

I knew pygmies werent the only ones that did this:p:p

They sure are very confusing though. Now she is acting like the hole isn't there. I am so confused lol.

We will just need to see what happens:)

She will abandon the hole if she sees you peeping in on her. It's part of a innate behavior that helps keep eggs safe after they are laid. If a monkey saw a chameleon lay eggs, it would dig them up and eat them. So naturally, the chameleon needs to feel that nothing knows where it laid the eggs. If you just give her some privacy, she'll probably lay before too long.

She doesnt see me. her whole cage is covered. I know she is digging because i have my camera above the cage. She has laid before right after i covered her cage but not this time. Im confused
