I have a 10 momth pld female panther whos kept outdoors. She is a great chameleon, eats great and has never given me problems. Well today I handled her as I do every week or so cause she runs up to the cage and sits infront waiting for food. I noticed this black strak on her. Its a black pigmented area and it has some volume to it. Its raised a bit. I was very concerned and snapped some close ups of it. she has some scarring underneathein her belly area which has healed, then beside that its the mysterious black patch. Can anyone identify this for me. Its been raining these past 6 days. I didnt notice this before so idk how long this is been like this.

That looks like a bruise to me. Its the perfect location for a branch to catch her if she slipped on the screen or fell some other way. Schefflera are notorious for breaking off when a cham tries to climb them. Could be she hit the rim of the planter. That would cause that kind of bruise. Hope she heals up.

I agree that it's most likely a bruise. It should fade and disappear in a few days if not sooner.

I agree it does look like a bruise from her stomach hitting something. It does look very dark and I would say imo it looks recent. like within 24 hours of you seeing it. My cham has gotten a brusie before from falling. It started to go away the next day and was gone within a week. I would say if it doesnt appear to get better in the next day or two I would take her to the vet and make sure its not a fungus or growth. (not that I think its that. but if its not a bruise those would be my next guess) I would try changing 1 of her plants out for a pothos. My chams love them and they are really nice attached to the top of a enclosure. they provide lots of little shoots for them the climb. I have a list of safe plants in my blog for a list of other safe plants :) I really hope she gets better :D

Thanks to everyone whos answered. I am very thankful to the attention. I am very apreciative and I am keeping a close eye on her. I will keep you posted. Thanks

Ya gotta love all the caring, giving people here!
It says alot about Cham keepers.
I hope your girl heals fast, is she tender in that area?
