Female Panther Chameleon Digging holes

Hello,

I have recently started breeding several different kinds of panthers (usually breed jacksons and mt. meru's) and just this last sunday one of my red bodied ambilobe females laid a clutch of 40 eggs. She started at 9 am and finished around 6 pm. We gave her plenty of food and water including multiple showers. She hasn't really seemed to be eager to eat but their are crickets missing in her cage. Then this afternoon around 2pm she started digging in one of her plants so we put her back into the egg laying bin. Soon after that she dug a new hole about 6-8" deep then abandon it and did not fill it back in. We left her in the bin (Trash Can) for about 3 hours which by that time was around the time she goes to bed. I then took her out of the bin gave her a shower and put her back in her cage till the morning when I plan to place her back in the bin for atleast the day. We did not spy on her nor did she see us while or when she was digging so I don't know why she would abandon her new hole. So I guess I'm just wondering if this is normal for the female to do after she has laid a clutch? I would like to think after laying 40 eggs she wouldn't have any eggs left in her. Like I said I'm new to the egg layers so hoping that someone can ease my mind on what is going on with her. Thanks and have a great night.

Yes she filled the first hole and packed it down and then went about her way so I removed her from my laying bin within this hour of covering the hole. Then after I put her in the shower for about 30 mins to drink I put her back into her cage which she fell right asleep. It was not till two days later when she started to dig again, so in turn we put her back into the laying bin which she is in right now. And as of right now she has not starts to dig a new hole or return back to the hole she dug last night. Thanks
