thats her!

BUT weve heard that for female chams you have to set up a little egg laying area for them, cause if they dont they wont be able to lay them and could get ill. Is that true or do you not have to worry bout nuffin like that. Just double checking cause we wanna make sure we get this right :D

None of my female Oustalets nor any of my female Panthers had laid an infertile clutch prior to breeding. Not to say it won't happen, so all of my females at 5 months of age gte a laying bucket whether they want it or not! :) They can become eggbound and die if they need to lay and do not have a suitable place.

Allright thank you very much. That helps. Do you have any advice on making the egg layan' bucket?

You can do it when yours moves to a larger cage-but I use 12" deep by 12" around plastic flower pots filled with a mixture of coconut fiber and play sand.

Hey Juli, got a pic of a receptive oustalet girl? I know the gravid look but just wondering if they have a receptive coloration also.

ill keep that in mind for when she moves to a bigger cage! thanks a bunch :) And do they know to lay their eggs in there just by instinct?

Yep-they know they need to dig-so they go to the spot where they can. Sometimes they will ignore the laying pot and go for the potted plant.

Oh they dig lol? that sounds like it'd be fun to watch! but thanks again for all the help, we appreciate it a ton :)

It might be fun to watch, but it will make the female abandon the hole and if it happens often enough it can lead to eggbinding....so don't let her see you watching her.

I do-I showed it to Trace tonight and she said, "Emerald-Receptive"! Emerald has been receptive many times but as you all know oscar Oustalet is gay.

I will dig it up and post here!

She is very nice and all, I dont have any knowledge with oustalets but I want to just say in the first picture she is standing on a male veileds back??? correct me if Im wrong?

Be very careful-your Veiled will eat her in a split second and once he chomps down it's all over.
