Female or late bloomer

Is there a bump I'n this picture?

Can anyone tell me what a Ambanja boy at this age might look like outside in the sun. Or at least what colors might he show?

Yes to your first question and no to the second one. Chameleons can show very different colors at different ages, and even brothers may not look the same. So you may see greens and blues outside become more apparent, but we can't guess what he'll look like.

No question 100% male, and from these new pics he looks like he is starting to show great potential I am loving all the red he is showing. Just keep pumping him with well gut loaded food and your going to be happy;)

Other then developing late they don't have any other bumps along the roads do they? Any apart from the average healthly cham? :)

Mine was a very small little guy (110 grams at 2 years old even though he was a sambava,) even with no parasites and all the food in the world. His man bits were so small that two breeders thought he was a female before he came to me! I bought him as a female. Several vets with a good amount of chameleon experience couldn't figure out why he was so small, but he was otherwise healthy. He grew up to be a stunning and extremely friendly animal and mated with two females (one was a tiny little girl, much like him!) He was unusual though. I expect your guy to grow up nice and big. He's much larger than mine was at the same age.

(If you didn't know, sambavas tend to be a very, very large locale so it was even more unusual that my guy was so small.)

Its hard to say honestly what he will look like. I can see some greens blues and on the face you can see some yellows a bit. But even down the road those colors might not be the ones his mature colors are. Like for instance, ill show you the dad of mine, and mine.

Are the throat markings an accurate way to tell the sex of any cham in general?

:pHope so cuz Oliver has nice electric blue on his throat :p

No they aren't, but that's ok, the general thought now is that he is definitely a boy. Now you can relax, enjoy him, and wait for time to do her magic with his growth and colors!

Yes, many many many many many many many well appreciated thanks to everyone who commented and gave their opinion! I can rest easy now :)

I am leaning toward late bloomer at this point. But I have told Lauren to keep me posted and hopefully the uncertainty will be over soon

Hi all, Lauren pm'ed me about taking a look at this thread after reading my "how to." I've got to say it wasn't easy but I was leaning toward male based on his colors, rather than his tail which is at the difficult-to-tell stage. That was until I saw the picture Dez posted on page 3 with the quote above so I stopped reading there. His colors say male now but that picture Dez posted is 100% male. Sorry I couldn't get to this sooner, the Reptile Super Show this past weekend meant very little CF time. Hopefully it's already cleared up by now but there ya go... Oliver is male.
