Female jackson about 9 months old who eats extremely well, good husbandry, may have gotten a little overheated because she was outside in the sun when it was 90s. She was found lying on the bottom of the cage at 7, her grip was fine i misted her and put her on a branch and she drank from a mister. The tip of her tail is black. she is sleeping still on the branch as of now. Im thinking it may be damage from overheating? Please give me any advice for this situation

pictures

here are some pictures of her

Have you felt the tail ? Is it hard or crusty feeling? She was probably laying on the bottom obviously because of the heat. Trying to escape it.

I would keep misting as much as you can She may be very dehydrated from the heat.

Edit: At first I was kinda thinking a burn as well. Maybe a more senior member could provide some help. I have not had any situations with a burn as of yet so don't have much experience. The only other thing I could think of would be a possible fall on the tail.

yea i was thinking that but it was 7 pm and the temperature was 76. Shes no very coherent. I was checking all of her limbs for infections and mouth rot and things and she seemed out of it. her tail is just black theres no sign of infection and i dont think it is a loss of blood from a retained shed. It may just be broken. I dont hold her though so i dont know how that would be.

Poor girl, I would just keep an eye on her. If it seems to get worse or provides her any discomfort you could always make a vet visit.

She is probably drained , hopefully tomorrow she shows some improvements after she gets some sleep. I would increase her mistings tomorrow.

Maybe if u kept jacksons u would know that she was stressed from the pictures because i woke her up. thanks for not answering any of my questions.

Is the black on both sides of the tail, or just on the one side? My fischer's tail was damaged somehow in shipment and his tail on one side stayed black for 6 months.

Is the cage in the photo the one she was outside in? Was the plastic on it?
Could she move out of the sunlight into the shade while she was in the cage?

Did she have any misting or source of water while she was out there?

Could the tail have been caught somewhere? Could a bird have pecked at it? Is the tail limp where the black mark is?

If she continues to be out of it I would talk to a vet about it.

Some of the Jacksonii I never had.

You need to chill out. Seriously. Your comment about insinuating that Dean called you an idiot is uncalled for as well...

Check your grammar.

Kind of hard to tell from the photo, but it could possibly be a thermal burn. If the tail accidentally rested on something the sun was cooking ... well, you know how chams are, especially if a little dozy from overheating. Hope she's doing better in the morning. You'll probably have a better idea then whether it was banged or broken, or burned. If it IS a burn, keep a close eye out for infection.

Hey Julie, just checking to see how your little girl is this morning. Must have been a rough night for you, none of us enjoys seeing one of our little babies in distress. Good luck (got ma fingas crossd)
