feeding tips

I've had a veiled chameleon for a week now, and he has been eating various stuff (crickets, mealworm, super worm, butter worm, hornworm), but I'm having problems getting him to eat crickets. He pretty much won't eat the crickets unless they climb the cage and go towards the top, but it seems like most crickets just hand out on the bottom of the enclosure. I have one of those magnet feeding cups midway through the enclosure but he never goes there to grab worms or anything, so I have just been putting them on leaves near him, which sometimes works, but sometimes the worms end up falling and I have to find them again and put them up there.

Is there a good way to get the crickets to climb the cage more consistently? Will he eventually go down and hunt them if I leave them alone? Should I just put the worms in the bowl and forget about them?

The crickets will end up by your basking light up at the top of the cage where he can see them.

Put crickets in the cup, he will eventually find them as they climb up the cup, and enough will jump out to keep some free ranging.

For some reason when I dump the crickets in they all climb the screen at the same time. Only yesterday, for the first time in my limited experience, I saw one of them stay at the bottom and it eventually climbed up. Maybe it's because I sort of toss them in? They're excited, who am I kidding, scared to death?

I usually hand feed my crickets but when I just put them in the cage mine will just go chase them wherever they are

I got some bigger crickets and they all end up on the screen towards his basking spot... Sometime he eats them and sometimes he lets the crickets chill with him lol.. It seems like all he wants to eat is horn worms and he is starting to ignore crickets/butter worms/ super worms

Hornworms are the ultimate chameleon treat. Keyword treat. Bright green and so delicious. Lol. You are getting your Cham to spoiled. I think it would be like feeding a kid candy bars for a long time and then say "hey how bout some brussel sprouts".
Sounds like you care for your chameleon very much. Just make sure he's eating his brussel sprouts too. Lol

One more thing I strongly recommend you take mealworms out of his diet all together. They can be hard to digest and become impacted. Superworms are a great substitute. Much easier to digest.
