Feeding habits

I was wondering what feeding habits are the "norm". I have read when feeding that you put in as much food as it will eat for a 5 minute period then remove the leftovers. This does not work for my veiled as he will perch near the milk jug feeding apparatus for long periods of time before he will shoot one, take a 5 minute break, shoot another and so forth. He also will perch near the jug pretty much when I put it in.

My amibole I've never actually caught eating, though I heard the distinctive sound of the impact of his tongue hitting cricket in the jug, which is a little thump. Both jugs are usually empty by the time I get home from work.

Anyways, I'm sure I already know the answer is all chams eat differently, but I'm just wondering what other people's experiences are.

I'm pleased you have made this thread, because my chams eating habits are really changing!

When I got him, he used to eat from a bowl on the floor of his enclosure. When I got him, he also had one branch and one strip of fake leaves on each side of his enclosure.

Now he has much more branches, lots of leaves and such, he has stopped venturing down to his bowl - he now likes me to put the bugs and such on his branches and in the leaves for him to go and find - which he does - and I'm all for recreating natural behaviours

His viv at the moment is too small for a good sized feeding cup, but he is getting a new pad at the end of Nov/beginning of Dec, and I hope to get him cup feeding just so that it's a bit easier to monitor his feeding
