i just started a new job, 8-4 mon thru fri. im worried hes not eating enough. i feed him in morning and when i get home. hes 5 months old. on top of that he seems to be off the crickets becaause he likes other things. came home to him dark and not sun baskign which is weird for him

I work similar hours and I only feed in the morning.
It sound like your cham may have a food "addiction" issue. Would his food of choice be superworms perhaps? (all of my chams have become superworm fiends at one point, to the point they won't eat anything else). Just refuse to feed him anything but crickets and eventually he will resume eating them. A 5 month old cham shouldn't take too long to break their addiction.
