Feeding...

My panther is not yet that old but as he came from a very reputable breeder and a site sponsor I will pass along what they instructed me to do with my guy at that age... I was told a 14 month old panther should be fed every other day w/ approx 10 crickets per feeding because at that stage of life they are no longer experiencing rapid growth and do not require food on a daily basis.

Hope that helps! :p

I might try feeding him everyday again see what happens but he was leaving crickets and there where still in the cage when I got home so I reverted to everyother but just wonder if this is enough. Were see what happens

Thanks

Every other day is fine...

He does seem to be doing ok on everyother day just want to make sure I'm not under feeding him

But I would think he would be eating more than 5... but Chams do occasionally go on "hunger strikes" you may want to try some other feeders... Cham's like variety... Hornworms are enticing! :D

I don't think we can get hornworms in the uk. We can get phoenix worms which I was thinking of tying tried silks and dubia's but with no luck he wasn't interested

Can you post some pictures of him please including one showing the head pads and one showing the whole chameleon? I would think he could be eating more like 15 large ones every second day.

i will try take some more pics when i get home at work at the moment but if you have a look on my profile the most recent photos are the one on the wicker basket and ficus the first two pics in the album

14 months is adult, not subadult.

Yes, This 3-5 feeders every other day would be sufficient, though I think he could eat a little more. Best way to know if he has enough to eat is:
1 - is he maintaining or slightly gaining weight
2 - does he have fat pads slightly puffy protruding from his head
3 - is he active
4 - does he eat everything you offer right away, urgently, or take his time

Other feeder options you could try include roaches (perhaps a type other than dubia), silkworms (doesnt hurt to try again), and butterworms.

He looks fine (good headpads, nicely filled out tail, etc.) so the amount you are feeding him seems to be fine. Sandra gave you some good pointers about how to tell if he is getting enough.

Thank you all for your advice. Havent had a chance to take any pics tonight. He has been gaining weight steadily recently and his pads on his head are protruding. He is quite active and eats the food at his own pace I wouldnt say urgently.
