Feeder storage

What does everyone use to store their crickets/other feeders?
How many crickets should I be storing for a 3 month old ambilobe?
thanks

I use a 10gallon aqurium for my crickets with a screen lid. And sterilite totes for my dubias, supers, silks, horns, etc... Well amount depends on your animal. Or how many you want on hand. I get 1000 crickets 2 or 3 times a month. But im feeding a lot of animals. And my dubia and supers colony is huge.

I use an 18 gallon rubbermaid that I cut like 4 inch by 6 inch squares out of the sides and hot glued aluminum screen to it for ventilation. As for how many I don't know but I usually buy 1000. Their life span is about 2 months or so from pin head to adult. So I guess it depends what size you purchase and how much your chameleon eats

Hey Texas, what type of bran do you keep your supers in and how long do they take to turn to beetles? Are they easy to breed?

I buy wheat bran at the feed store. You can get a 50 pound bag for 20.00. You have to seperate the worms out into a pill container. (like the mon-sunday ones) One worm per slot. Then wait for them to pupate. Then put all the beetles in a container with the same wheat bran and wait for them to breed. But its not easy. It takes quite sometime to get the worms to grow that the beetles have. And it is time consuming to seperate out worms to pupate. But once you get it going. It will be a self sustaned colony. Most of the time.;)

What stores sell those?

Thanks! Have you ever bred hornworms? I have some pupa right now I kinda thought they would have come out of there shell already? It' been like a month.

yep i use a lagre rubbermaid as well i just drill like 40 small holes in the lid for ventalation and tape around the top edge with clear packing tape that the crickets cannot climb.

I have got them to moths but I have never got them to breed yet. Im in the pupa stage again right now too. Some just die off in the pupa stage. But mine took a little while to hatch. I may have been around a month or so.

I usually just chop the veggies up small. I have used a coffee grinder when chopping something hard like rabbit pellets. And sorry about hy-jacking with the breeding questions:rolleyes: oh yeah and make sure you use aluminum screen for the vent holes not fiberglass cuz the crickets will chew through it:eek:
