feeder food

I'ved used "layena" witch I believe is a purina product...It's fed to egg laying hens and is high in calcium...the only problem is it took me a couple of years to use-up a 25lb bag!!!

would chicken feed be ok to use for dry food for feeders?

heres a link with the ingredients to one

I would not recommend you use this, at least not on a regular basis.
It has a lot of grains (which you dont want to use much of), preformed vitamin A and D supplments (which you undboutedly want more control of that this would allow), and a high calcium gutload from artificial sources can kill off crickets.

You might like to make your own gutloads:

Thanks. I checked ur blog out. How much does all that dry ingredients end up costing you? Just trying to see if it would be cheaper making it my own or just buying cricket crack.

I make mine with.Wheat bran, oat bran. Bee pollen, kelp, seaweed rolls, dryed milk, dry eggs. The list goes on and on. I make my own. And I get the ingredents from the health store and the feed store. I have found that it almost equals out to be the same price. But you know what you put in it when you make your own. Thats a big selling point to me. I can trust myself. And I know the ingredents are fresh, all natural. And where they were bought from.

Just my 2 cents:)

I recommend you avoid using much wheat bran or oats. They have the wrong calicum to phosphorous ratio.
I also recommend going easy on animals products (milk, eggs) as too much animal based protein and fat isnt good for chameleons, plus using these doesnt easily allow you to easily control how much preformed vitamin A gets to the chameleon.

It doesnt cost much to make your own gutload, even using top quality ingredients. Maybe $10 per pound.

Idk... I use Cricket crack and It was fairly cheap. Plus I throw in some veggies and fruit and viola...super easy fast and inexpensive

I originally purchased a small vial... they sent me a large bag for first time customer 0.0 I use like a couple pinches every day its gonna be forever before I use it up XD I had a smaller bag of flukers gutload that lasted me a month and im still not out.... I have maybe .... 1/4 of the bag left
