feeder distance from branch

I'm getting my first chameleon tomorrow and I have to attach this feeder to the enclosure wall first. About how far from the nearest branch should it be? The bugs can only crawl up the inside back and the feeder is 4 inches deep. Not sure how far he can shoot his tongue. It's an 8 month old male panther.

Thanks for all your comments, this community is great. Here's where I landed. The hard part is calculating that he can move his head because the branch is perpendicular to the feeder.

Looks good. Make sure you load that feeder up with bugs. So the cham sees the movement and knows where the food is. I normally toss in 2 dozen when I introduce a feeder run.
