Feces check - Isospora Jajacimmani

Hello,
so after the first weeks here, we had our VET done the first feces check and sadly he was tested positive of Isospora Jajacimmani+++. The VET said, it's curable, means in 10 days we will bring Fridolyn to start the treatment. Now I want to spend the time as good as possible to prepare.

I found this thread with some information, but perhaps someone has some more up-to-date information?

The VET recommended to remove areas getting in touch with the feces generously. I read in the thread, the whole terrarium needs a full strip and cleaning. So first idea is to buy the same terrarium again without the bioactive enclosure, just with a (artificial?) plant in the middle and put him in when coming back from the VET during his time in quarantine. This could make it easier for us to find all his poop and collect for checks and we have a clean envitonment.

Meanwhile the question is how much needs to get removed from the old one. If we have to throw away everything like soil, trees etc. or if it's enough to take out the two trees, scrub it good enough and throw the other stuff away. The enclosure will be cleaned properly, too.

We also contacted the breeder to inform her, as our guess is, he came with it to us. She said, she will get hers tested, too, we'll see.

Any hint, tip or information is really appreciated.

I had to look that up. In more common terms for most of us, that is coccidia and a heavy load of it. Thankfully, I have only had to deal with a light load of this in one of my beardies (it actually is a part of their natural flora) and also thankfully, I am pretty disciplined with all contact precautions. I do know that many here have had this issue and if you do a search, you will find countless posts on how to manage and eliminate it. It does require throwing out everything porous that can not be deep cleaned, including plants, branches, soil, etc. I believe steam cleaning and/or use of hydrogen peroxide (can’t recall the strength though) is one of the few ways to kill the coccidia. @Beman and @GrannyK can be of more help with this than I.

It is not fun to clean for or deal with because it takes time... Look up Coccidia in the forum you will find threads specific to it and most talk about what you have to do, including one I did a very long time ago. It is contagious to other reptiles so if you have any other chams be very cautious. Every single thing in the cage that is porous has to be trashed. They just are not able to be cleaned because the oocycts do not easily die so the cham can recontaminate itself by licking a spot where fecal landed prior. You end up putting the cham into the properly cleaned enclosure and have to keep in pretty bare while going through treatment. Spot clean every single day removing all fecal and wiping out the bottom of the cage with hot water and dawn soap. For main cage cleaning this involves using peroxide like you use in hair color. I forget which volume but it says in my old thread. You really want 2-3 clean fecal tests over a 4-6 week period after all med treatment has completed. Read through this. https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/coccidia-help-and-cleaning-advice-please.170202/
Keep in mind my situation is not what always happens and there is some drama in the thread even though I tried to keep it out. But there is really good info there people gave me.
