Fecal matter color

I hat to repost but I'm kinda confused... Today I looked at my chams excretion and its a much lighter color... Still one piece with his pure white urate but his feces are lighter and wetter.. Anyone have any ideas? Should I even be concerned about this change?

Hm, don't know what to tell you. You might be feeding him a feeder that contains lots of water and is why it's runnier and lighter. Try tossing in a few hard shelled feeders like Dubia or Crickets. If the urate is white he is well hydrated (as you probably already know). Pictures?

I feel you confusedness!! (neologism;). Again today Tanzys urate was orange, like really orange!!:( Yesterday it was finally all white. ugh would anyone mind posting some pix of their drip/rain systems???

Orange mean he's dehydrated and that in not good. You need to mist more often for longer periods of time and set up a dripper if you don't have one. I'm attaching my blog below for new keepers. It should help you both with your chams.

I mist multiple times a day for long enough periods, so i know duration isn't the problem. The only way i have gotten Tanzy to drink is with a hand dripper right in front of her/him. (i thought Tanz was a male but some members have said by the pix i posted they think possibly female)
jannb, do you know any other possible reasons for orange urate?
I read thru your blog and i am pretty sure i have the rest of the habitat up to par with those requirements..

Some chams do not like to drink in front of you. So set up a dripper to drip for a few hours and leave the room and alow your cham to drink in private. I am not a vet so I do not know of anything else to cause orange urate.

Maybe your gutload needs changing. But 9 times out of 10 it is a hydration problem.

Yea i think it is a hydration issue as i am following member-sandrachameleons gut-loading guidelines. Would anyone mind posting pix or describing their drip systems? Iv tried several ways (multiple cups with holes, in different locations) and none have worked really well. Note: i also have an auto mister and hand mist around five times a day.

Have you looked into a mistking? I love mine. And I havent had a hydration problem since getting mine.

A very cheap and simple drip system can be set up using a pond pump, some garden tubing and a drip head. You can get all of is at any hardware/garden store for less than $30. There is a thread on here about misting systems for under $30. Look. It up and you will find all you need for a good drip system without the expense of the mistking.

i have a habba mist. I would assume they are similar? I have it set to spray once an hour for 60 sec..

In a couple months or less that Habba mist will kick the bucket. Put in a search for threads on those. And you will see why. It is nothing compared to a mistking. The timmer for it is amazing. I would highly recommend you check them out.

I thought I remember reading that a vet said that orange could also be from the urate being inside for awhile before it came out, correct me if I read the wrong info please.

as i understand it, orange from being inside the body to long is also a sign of dehydration because the longer the urate stays in the body the more moisture is reabsorbed by the body. . . but that is just what i have read. The actual fecal part of the excretions seems normal to me (this being my first cham). Im so frustrated because his/her urate was white yesterday and then orange again today** Tanzy drank water today tho so i guess we'll see how tomorrows turns out..
