Fake vine innards harmful?

I didn't find anything on this. Does anyone know if the insides of fake vines are harmful? I'd like to divide a long vine into shorter pieces and want to insure it won't cause problems.

Hi, is it the "bendy" type of fake vine? If so, you will probably struggle to cut it, as they have wire in the centre. They do tend to disintegrate after a while as well - when I moved my male Veiled into his big boy cage, the vines that had been in his smaller cage crumbled and fell to pieces when I tried to re-bend them.

Thanks for responding. They are the bendy kind but they seem to be holding up pretty well since the person I got them from had them for a couple years. You didn't mention whether or not the insides (Excluding any wires) would be harmful if exposed?

There are a lot of different makes and brands of the vines you are describing some are foam inner and some are just rubber but I would say it is safe for the rubber ones to be cut but anything that is made of foam is not safe because it could come loose and and your chameleon could accidentally eat it and become impacted to me it is not worth the risk when fake vines new are just a few dollars but that is just my two cents

I just re-read this, for some reason i thought you were trying to split a vine down the middle length wise... Cutting on into shorter lengths should not be a problem, just use a good pair of wire cutters and if its foam base use a razor to make the cut to the wire then wire cutters for the wire, make sure there are no sharp edges left after you cut them, for my dart frogs i use black aquarium grade non toxic silicone to cap the ends after cutting

I cut mine and used some hot glue to seal the ends and it worked great
