F. Verrucosus Breeding!!!

Chameleon Enthusiast
Hello all!
Well, the past month and a half, I have been trying a new method I thought of to induce receptiveness, and it obviously worked!

Method-I slowly made the humidity lower, simulating a warmer dry month, and slowly lowered food intake. About halfway through, I slowly made it more wet, simulating a more humid environment. I also increased food intake. Keep in mind they were still getting ample amounts of food and water during the "dry" month, humidity was around 60-70%, instead of 80+%, which is where I like to keep it at.

So, today, I had a feeling, that love was in the air. I introduced the pair, and almost instantly, the male approached the female. Then, mounted her. I snapped two pictures, just enough to not bother the pair. I am excited to see the progress of the breeding.

Sorry that the second picture is out of focus, I snapped it fast to leave them alone. (Money shot :eek:)

Congrats on the pairing. Lets hope for fertile eggs and a successful incubation!!!

You might want to give a little TLC to that scheff:p Could be too dry, too wet or not enough UV for it. Definitely doesnt look as nice as those chameleons:D

It does need some natural uv, with a nice soaking, I try to do it every week, and it will be going out soon.

Thanks all! She is dark, which I am assuming is the gravid coloration. I have seen the coloration before, but she was unreceptive, and stressed. I am so excited to get eggs!!!!

Well this is way cool! Congratulations! Keep writing down your observations and taking photos of their progress and most importantly keep us posted.

Good job!

Congrats man!! Keep us updated!!! :)

Hopefully in a few months i'll be doing the same thing with my verrus! :D

Nice man. You dont hear too many stories on these guys breeding. Def keep us updated and I cant wait to see some eggs. I wonder how big they are? If they are larger than a typical panther egg?

I would guess either the same size, or a little smaller. I'm writing down observations, and I'll be sure to document egg specifics.
