F. Lateralis misting and Veiled

Ok we came across three F. Lateralis minors and a mist king system this week. I know the carpets need their humidity high up ( we are in colorado) so i am needing to set up their schedule (mistking). What i am wondering, is misting them and the veiled on the same system gonna be way to much for our veiled. Any suggestions out there? Oh and pics will come later of the new kids, they were a bit stressed from the move and setting back up their enclosures.

I saw them and was tempted ... glad you got them!
Here is an article, if you haven't found it yet:

Kevin is well known for his keeping and successful breeding of carpets.
I noticed the females were housed together in a huge enclosure ... you will want to separate them into two small enclosures.
Paul, you saw what I am currently working on ... that is the size of enclosure you want for the carpets, and they each need their own space.

I think the misting schedule you currently have for the veiled (3 times a day) will be fine for the carpets.
Mine are coming soon ... aren't they beautiful?

Ya the guy was really hard up and we had the cash, he had just recently given his pygmy set up away i think it was 8 total. He can't afford to feed his guys atm.

So i was thinking 3 times a day for 2-4 mins gonna watch this weekend. I also got a reptifog system with it and wondering if i should use it also.

One of the females layed her clutch of about a dozen eggs earlier this week, the other one is ready to anytime. Like i talked to you bout earlier i never had a whole lot of desire to breed, so gonna have to figure out what to do with all those babies...fortunately we have 6ish months heh.

These guys are absolutely gorgeous looking. Their colors not fired up are great, i feel privileged to have them in my home.

I may need to find another smaller enclosure here soon then. The girls are in this 24x24x48 setup. I questioned him about it and he was saying that he always housed them together, but i want them to have their own space.

Thanks again Brad.

p.s. ya i read that article and like 20 others so far, plus been using the search function reading anything that comes up in the forums here.

7 to 18 months incubation.
67 to 69 degrees (constant, no diapause)
Hopefully you did not turn or adjust the eggs too much moving them into the incubation medium.

He had the chams in his office at work and had brought the eggs home. But it wasn't his first time with cham eggs so i don't think he did, not sure though. We have an appointment for me to pick them up on mon or tues.

Hey
I also have a carpet chameleon. I was just wondering if you could give me some links to all those articles on them you found. I already read about all the threads on the forums about them. Thanks

Brad's right about the misting schedule, etc. I have my animals on a 2 X's a day schedule of 15 minutes each time. That's what I use for my cristatus as well. In the summer it changes to 15 min. 4-5 times a day, but they're outside. I've used that schedule for a couple years now. Carpets, like everything else, have healthy hydration requirements.

By the way Brad, I sent you a Facebook message. This week looks good for shipping I think! Time for you to get a CB pair. Also, my hold-back F3's are looking close to breeding. I may breed my oldest girl, Ru Paul, next week sometime. She is large enough and receptive.

Love lats, but I want to expand into some more montanes when May arrives and I have the room. I'm going to expand my chameleon area downstairs this summer I think when all the chameleons are outside. The lats take up too much room but I can never seem to let them go! They were my first obsession.

Oh yes, and I forgot to say...the position of the eggs doesn't matter for a while after they're laid. I've never paid attention to orientation of the egg pre-diapause/development. When I dig them up, they usually roll all over and hatch just fine. It's once they start to vascularize that you want to make sure they don't get jarred, etc.

I think my humidity guage is busted... :( its been at 20% since i the first time i saw it. Oh well gotta go run errands today. So would you suggest longer misting times then 2-4mins 3 times day?

I am going to need to set up drain systems, I did look at the floor level after last misting and it looks like the plants are taking up most of the excess water. But still going to need something to drain it away.

Ok so after some thinking, I am just going to build all new enclosures for the F. Lateralis, and build a drainage system right into it. I will document it so everyone can see how horrid my carpentry skills are. :)

So here is a pic of our boy.
