Crayola

Crayolas eyes look suckin in. He does have a parasite that i mentioned in my last thread. My vet has yet to call back about the meds. Cause i told her i could afford $170 meds. So she told me last week she was going to decide how much she was going to give him and for how long and get me that exact amount but i have yet to hear from her. He has been awake alot more during the day and eats alot yes i use calcium and his fecal looks excellent. It has gottin colder here lately. I didnt put his heat lamp on because the temp in the cage is about 85 but when i took him out this evening he was cold so i did turn on the lamp.

Can him being so cold cause his eye to sink in?
Feedback please

It is your job to provide the basking lamp for your cham and it is his/her job to regulate its own body temperature - which means it will move to a lower gradient in his cage if he's too hot. Get the basking light on and leave it on for the required time cycle (12 hrs on, 12 hrs off)

Sunken eyes are a sign of dehydration. Give him more water. If you have to, hold him and with a syringe, drip some water onto his nose and wait. It may take a few minutes for your cham to open its mouth - they can be stubborn, but eventually, with patience he will drink. I do this often if I don't see my chams drinking. This way I know that they've dranken, even if only a couple drops. Please be aware that if your cham is on meds now, or will be in the near future water is extremely important as the meds can wreak havoc on your chams internal organs, especially the kidneys. So if he's not on meds now and is dehydrated and you are expecting meds in the next few days....you may have an even bigger problem on your hands. KEEP YOUR CHAM HYDRATED - this is VERY important. Please note that if you mist, the cage should completely dry inbetween mistings. You don't want your cham coming down with a respiratory infection on top of everything else.

Also, don't wait for your vet to call you. YOU call your vet. I have learned that we need to be advocates in the medical community for those we love whether it be our children or our pets. CALL HIM and get the meds your guy needs, asap. Good luck.

Sunken eyes can be a sign of general illness and eye muscle atrophy, too. It doesn't need to be caused by dehydration only. Sick chameleons - and you said your chameleon has a coccidia problem which causes gut inflammations - may have sunken eyes. I don't think anyone with a hurting gut and bile duct would look perfectly healthy. Just be sure your cage setup works and she's still drinking.
