Chameleon Info:
* Your Chameleon - veiled chameleon, female, around 14 months, had her for about 6 months.
* Handling - hardly ever
* Feeding - dubias, crickets, superworms. 5-6 every other day. gutload with carrots, apples, grapes, celery.
* Supplements - rep-cal calcium with every feeding. reptocal calcium with d3 twice a month, reptivite twice a month.
* Watering - drip system that drips all day. i see her drink but i think she likes to do it in private. i dont mist anymore because it would freak her out and wouldnt lead to her drinking.
* Fecal Description -havent found any poop lately. but before that, it seemed normal.
* History - when i first got her (pet store), she was shedding. she would suck her eyes in like maybe a piece of skin got in there and was irritating her. i would mist her and the problem seemed to go away after a week. this was 6 months ago.
Cage Info:
* Cage Type - 65 gallon reptarium.
* Lighting - reptiglow and a standard lightbulb for heating. on 6:30 to 6:30
* Temperature - basking is in the low 80's, the lower part is 77. checked with digital thermometer.
* Humidity - nothing to measure humidity
* Plants - Dwarf Schefflera and a potho
* Placement - cage is in its own room that no one goes into. its near a window about 5 feet high.
* Location - las vegas, nv
Current Problem - i came back from a trip (friend was taking care of her--did everything right) and after a couple of days of being back, i noticed the front of her eyes would swell up. it would happen when i tried to feed her and she would be looking forward. it looks like she has another eye ball in her socket. when they arent swollen, it looks like she has bags in the front.
its preventing her from being able to hit her prey with her tongue. shes also sucking them in and rubbing them on branches. this has been going on for about two weeks. she was semi-shedding when i left for the trip so i thought it might be skin in there.
last friday i took her to a vet and he looked at her for a whole two seconds and said it looked like an infection. he gave me biomox (amoxicillin) to give her twice a day, two drops. there hasnt been any improvement that i can tell. shes not eating much at all, and when i do get her to eat, its been a chore.
i have some pictures, maybe someone can explain to me how to post them on here. im stupid, i know.
i really appreciate it, guys.
lets try this...
