eye problems

About a week ago our chameleon was puffing his eye out where it looked like it was going to pop out and it was all red. I got on here and read some posts and found out it is a common thing so i decided to wait and see if it got any better. I watched him for the next couple days and found him the next day doing it to both but then he would stop. So no worries there well now for the past week he will not open his eye. Or if he does he only opens it a little bit and when he blinks the whole eye looks like it goes in the out. I wanted to know if anyone has had this problem or what a solution is so i can help him out so he can use his eye. Thanks in advance for any help.

Eye problems can be a sign that your cham may have a more serious health issue. I would take him to the vet ASAP......if it's been going on for awhile. Warm mistings and a shower may help till you can get him to the vet.

I echo the above. There are many possible reasons for eye issues, some minor, some major (simple irritation, parasite, vitamin deficiency, damage from bad lighting, etc). Although reading about other people's experiences here is interesting and can be helpful, only a qualified vet can really give you a good answer and advice.

What UVB light are you using on the cage? How long have you had the chameleon? Have you changed the light recently?

i was just haing the same problem (still am) for about a week and i brought him to the vet..i have to give him a shot every three days i got eyedrops and also some yellow powder stuff that i mix with warm water and fill a syringe to feed him until he can eat again. i also put some crickets in a cup just in case he feels he can eat but nothing so far..his eyes are opening more than they were but the actual eye looks like its recessed:confused: hopefully i didnt waste 160 at the vet and my little guy will be okay good look to you as well
