My Chameleon is about 5 months his colors are started to come in. He eats about ten cricks a day, drinks ok not the best but just added more mist time to his mistking. He lives in a mash cage from lllreptile. His problem is he keep one from his eyes close half the time. I try to force feed him a hornworm and I think it bite his eye lid and that happen three day before christmas and I need some help, please. And I have done the shower thing for him

It would be helpful if you could fill out the form "How to ask for help" and maybe post a picture.

In any case, if he is eating well, why would you force feed him a hornworm?

To get him to try a hornworm which I learn now is a no no if he eats a worm is ok if not than o well I truly wish I could take it back. And about a pic there is no visibly sign on his eye lid but I will tho and the form too

The form will be really helpful - eye problems can be due to a number of reasons, including trauma, lack of vitamins, etc.

My Chameleon- Male Veiled Chameleon age I am guessing to be 6 months?
I am only handle when its needed.
Feeding- about ten crickets he really don't care for any kind of worm but has ate a butterworms phoenix worms.

And his other history has been fine. A great eater drinks fine but not the friendly lil guy

Ok cage info a 65 Gal. Mash cage setup from lllreptile back in Oct. 3 Incandescent one 60 Watts, one 120 watts, One 75 watts. And one long UVB light
temperature is about 80 Day 70 Nigh
Humidity is about 70%
One live plant a golden python and some fake plants
Placement is in my bedroom
And I am in Tennessee

Great - A couple of questions:

How often do you give him multivitamins? Also, do you use any straight calcium without D3? You should use that regularly and the one with Vit D only once a month or so.

Do you gutload the crickets?

Why 3 different incandescent lights?

why so many lights? you only need one basking bulb, one uvb, and you can use another low watt bulb like a 20 watt if need be to brighten up the cage besides the basking. Unless your cage is massive(and its not), you do not need multiple basking areas Maybe all those lights are just too much on your chameleons eyes. how are you measuring your temps? I would keep the 60 watt for basking and check your temp underneath that. Most likely the lighting would be effecting both eyes and not just one, but this is just something that you need to correct regardless. did you see the hormworm bite him?

The multivitamins three times a week and I should get some cal without D3 And I feed the crickets is that the same as gutload? And three incandescent for heat and light cause I like it cold in my house

No I didn't see the hornworm bite him but there was a small red mark under his eye so I am really just guessing and the other eye is great nothing wrong with it.

You should supplement with multivitamins once a month or so; gutloading is feeding your feeder insects a varied, rich diet, so that they are more nutritionally valuable when fed to your chameleon (there are great threads on this topic in the forum).

I agree with Carol that the lights are probably be too many - even if you keep your house cold, 3 incandescent lights probably make the enclosure really bright! I too would expect both eyes to be affected if that was the problem...

If he keeps his eye constantly closed, I would definitely consider taking him to the vet...

Ok I will take one away and let's see what happens going to give it til Thursday than I am taking him go a Vet
