Eye problem

Hello there, we have had this chameleon since Feb, his eye swollen and discolored brownish half way around one eye. (I tried to upload a pic, but was unsuccessful). It is now a little worse and is affecting his ability to open and close the eye. Any suggestions?
I thought it might be a vit A deficiency, so we added spinach and apple to his cage this morning. But, I wanted to double check with experts. Thank you!

Please fill out the "How to ask for Help" questions as what you have given is not much to go on. My first suggestion though would be to take him to a vet.

I have pasted the questions below.....

Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
  • Location - Where are you geographically located?
What is the current problem you are having?

Spinach binds calcium...use dandelion greens, collards, kale, endive, sweet red pepper, squash, sweet potato to gutload with. Any veggies only provide beta Caroline (prOformed source) not a prEformed source.

Maybe try using a saline solution? Pure only, should only be around 3-4$. To help clean out whats irritating his eye until you get him to a vet expert. That way whatever is damaging his eye will subside the irritation. Sorry to hear he's having problems. Hope it gets better. If you fill out the proper for above, I'm sure many experts can guide you the right direction. Our buddy had a but of a problem with his eye , we noticed it when he was vigorously trying to clean it where his eye popped out to the side and we could see the red lining inside. Scared me! But once i cleaned out his eye for a week, he is all better now. It was really hard to do it at first but once the solution was in, he felt better immediately and let me keep doing it through out the week.
