eye issue?

Since we both got the chameleons this way it's not anything we are doing ... it's something we are trying to undo - and mine is better after showers/misting, not worse. Mine has changed hands about 3 times in the last month before he ended up with me so I don't know who did what and when it happened.

I also have 14 adult chameleons and a bunch of babies using the same water and lights with never any problems.

My best guess for my guy is an injury/something in the eye caused irritation. I think it is just a matter of time for it to heal and if there is not increased improvement it might need a vet visit.

A locally raised chameleon would probably have been getting the same water you use.

Well, the guy who gave him to me got him from someone at the Pomona show and the person at the show got the chameleon from someone else in this condition already.

Pomona is not at all local to me and who knows where the vendor was from - the guy didn't remember the vendor ...

I hope it is a water or lighting issue as it should clear right up now that he has better water and proper lighting. Though I can't but think both eyes would be affected to a degree if that was the case.

Yeah after i misted today it seemed to improve a little, she's still scratching her eye on vines every so often but I think it's getting better. I'll try starting to use distilled water but she's definitely improved a lot since yesterday. Thanks for the help everyone!

Even if the problem wasn't caused by water, the contaminants in the water could be adding to her discomfort. Trying distilled water is a cheap, easy thing that won't hurt and might help.

I'm glad she's improving.
