I also just started using a tiny portable desk fan on the top of his cage to pull air through. The sides of his cage has window cellophane on them.

Is the fan blowing into the cage or pulling air out of the cage?

It's pulling air out of the cage. Yes,my cage has the screen sides and the solid back wall.

So you will not need that fan then since you have a screen cage. He has plenty of air flow. Also depending on how large it is it could produce a vibration on the cage which might stress him out.

Ok so you had said his casque started swelling so this indicates infection over obesity if it happened really quickly. Now the eyes specifically the one eye is concerning. You can see this with over supplementation of D3 and A but he is not getting that with you. So next cause for this is infection. Could be something going on within the eye. But you can also see this when they have something going on within the sinuses and that has in turn infected the surrounding areas. Meds to clear the infection would be a good route. But if there is something stuck in the eye he has to have long enough misting sessions to try to clear that. And this is the thing... those fake vines you are using flake off. The longer they are used the more they will start breaking down. So when he rubs his face and eyes on it risk of getting small pieces in the eye turret is higher.

Now UVB with a 5% T5HO bulb you want this distance to be 8-9 inches from the bottom of the fixture to the branch below it.

@elizaann2 can you post the vet list. Not sure if there is one on there that is near this OP but maybe.

So much better! Now double check your distances from where the UVB lighting sits on the screen to the branches that are directly below it. You want a distance of 8-9 inches to put the cham in the right UVI level for your fixture type and bulb strength. The plants on the bottom you want to get higher in the cage. You can do this a few ways. Get a pot that is the same size but strong plastic and flip it upside down then set the plant on top of it. Or they make plant stands you can use as well. You want to try to get it to be up in where all the branches are so that he has places not only to hide and bed down but so that the plants create higher humidity gradients.

Thanks. I added a few climbing vines to it this morning. I didn't think to add my plants in there before adding all the tree limbs and securing them. I have plant stands already. I'll redo that part this afternoon. I checked the uvb light distance yesterday afternoon and it's 8 inches from where he sits.

Perfect... Sometimes you can easily raise up plants on stands and have the branches come up between your branches you laid in already. Try this before you remove branches. You might be able to get it to work perfectly.

The problem is that my plants stands are so tall that they won't fit between the branches that's in there. I wish I would've put the plants in there first.

So you know the plastic coated wire racks that you can put in kitchen cabinets for things like canned goods? These can work really well also. They have them in different heights. Keeps the ground clear so you can easily clean.

Hi Beman. I have the mistking set up in his cage. Due to his lights going off at 7pm today, I hurried and programmed his timer to go off at 7:05am, 12pm, and 5pm for 4 minutes each time. Please let me know what it needs to be so I can adjust it before I go to work in the morning.

You want to remove the 12pm. You do not want a long mid day misting it is going to increase humidity way too much with the lighting being on.

Yes for the others that is good. But see what your humidity levels do with that morning one. If you are in a high humidity area you may need to shorten it so the cage does not hold as much humidity for the day.

I do wash all my branches in hot water with dawn soap and I use a scrub brush to wash the surface. Then you rinse them really really well and let them dry back out. I do not remove any bark this helps the branches stay strong longer. How long they last depend on the tree type, if soft or hard wood. Along with are they directly under a misting head, If your cage is able to dry out well etc. Every year I go through and squeeze test branches especially those that are in the back under my mist heads. If the branches squish then they need to be replaced before they fall apart.
