I've posted about this before but never got any real answers. I would take him to the vet but I feel like the chameleon forum knows more about chameleons than my vet here. I will take him to the vet if you guys think it's the best thing.

Anyways. Reptar is having major eye issues. They are very dry and irritate him a lot. He rubs them on his branches a lot. I try to most him with warm water 2 times a day and do a shower treatment once a week it helps for a little bit but not for long. I don't know if this is an infection that maybe some terrimyacin would fix? Or I heard saline rinse could help? I was thinking about getting him a humidifier and see if maybe he's just too dry. Any advise would help!

Is say find a vet.. they may also look at the mouth how its disalligned. What's ur supplementing schedule like?

I would prob get to a vet and see if they can et you some terramycin and also up the humidity a bit. Saline and polysporin eye drops also help

I would also fill out the "how to ask for help form"

His mouth isn't disaligned. He was just starting to open it when I took the pic. I think lll reptile sells terrimyacin and it's cheaper than the 53 dollars my vet charges just to see him and they would probably say the same thing.

ouch. definitely looks like he is rubbing his turrets raw on the branches.

If your chameleon was mine.
1. the cage looks bare. i would go to any nursery and pick up a decent size pathos. They are typically right around 10 bucks. this will give your guy more humidity to help with this and give him more things to climb on. Win win situation.
2. I see your using a habamister. I would get this above the cage and use the nozzle that is on a hose. set it to mist in a wide pattern and suspend it above the cage so that it hit atleast 3/4 if not all of the cage. It will result in drops in the cage than a mist. IMO drops are better.
3. Id get him in the shower (Only if he is willing) and do this twice daily. https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/ataraxia/594-shower-chamber-treatment.html
4. I normally dont suggest putting stuff in the eyes but i agree with hoj. If you can get some terramycin on the eye that has an open sore.
5. really need to see a vet.

Please fill out a how to ask for help form.

Went out and bought Reptar a new plant. Got him a repti fogger. And going to start his shower treatments tomorrow. Also ordered Terramycin it's on the way. Poor Reptar I feel so bad that it got this bad.

Hydration is important for this issue. I've had a similar problem with my 4 year old ambi off and on for most of his life. Terramycin will help with the bacteria for his eyes but what made a difference was a combination of hydration and vitamin A treatment. I would get some hornworms or silkworms to start getting him better hydrated and see if that helps him keep from getting his eyes infected again after the terramycin clears up any bacterial infection. The vet I saw about my eye issues did not have any advice other than saline solution which really did nothing. I read a post that Jim Flaherty from the chameleon company put on here about vitamin a and that treatment seemed to keep him from having chronic eye issues. I have also not seen the eye problems since switching to repashy calcium plus neary a year ago. I have not had to use the retinol palmitate since using that supplement. Just what I have experienced so I had to post it up. If your vet has reptile experience its always better to get your advice there. Hope he gets better.
