hello all. In the last week my guy has been having an eye issue. It's closed but seems like he is always trying to clear it. He can still open but some times it looks like it's watering but the liquid stays in the socket. Rite after I took the pic he opened for a bit and looked at me but closed it again. I have been giving him showers. In there he cleans and opens it until I get him back to his cage for about 10 min then back tho this. He has an auto mister that goes off every 2-3 hr for 1.5 min each time. Humidity is constant 50-60 and spikes when misted. Basking is 85-95. Brand new t5 repti sun 10.0. Reg calcium every feeding. D3 twice a month and multi bit alternating twice a month. Bugs are gut loaded with strawberries and fresh greens. Any help appreciated thank you. Looking for a herp vet in the area of barrie Ontario but all I can find is car, dog, bird and farm. Any over the counter things I can try to help him with?

I had the same issue with my guy. I called my breeder and he told me to use turtle eye drops. You could also use saline solution.

You might also wanna make sure he doesn't have a vitimin A deficiency. That can be a sign as well. Make sure he gets his vitamins.

Could be a vit A def. I've only had him two months. The family I got him from loved him but don't think they knew how to take care of him. He never came with a multi vit or d3 supplement. Can I get human a and poke with a pin and put on a cricket? How much and how often? He also just shed. Could there be some stuck in his eye? Should I make the morning just longer then 1.5min?

I wouldnt try to give him liquid Vit A. If given too much it can harm the chameleon as well. To rule of Vit A being a cause make sure you get him on a multivitamin schedule and make sure feeders are gutloaded properly.

Other than that, it could be that the light is too bright or some debris is stuck inside the lid.

Just read through you original post again. I would think you 10.0 UVB buld is to strong for his eyes. Those ore for more desert dwelling species. Try using the reptisun 5.0 bulb and see how that works for him

I would suggest putting him
On a plant and put him in the shower aim the shower head and the wall so the warm back splash will hit him. Leave him there for 30minutes and keep eye on him and this will give him chance to really wash anything out thats in his eye.

If not he could have eye infection and you could offer him reptaid.
