Just because the problem is intermittent, doesn’t mean a visit isn’t a good idea.My veiled chameleon has an eye problem. He is 4 1/2 months old. I think it's eye fluid accumulated over and over. I don't know what it is exactly, I don't want to take him to a vet because it takes off and then comes again. View attachment 317094View attachment 317095
I'm using a t5 ho 5.0 reptisun and a 75 w heat bulb.What lights and supplements are you using?

Sounds good for the lights and calcium without D3. Both the multivitamin and D3 should be given twice a month though. Do you know if your multivitamin has preformed vitamin A in it? It would be listed as either a retinyl or retinol.I'm using a t5 HO 5.0 reptisun and a 75 w heat bulb
I use calcium without D3 every feeding. And multivitamin every 1 a month same with the d3
Yeah that's what I'm thinking, yes I gave him frequent misting sessions. Apart from his automatic Misti system, I have it for 1 min every 6 hr. But I spray his cage for the cause of his eye.Vet visit is called for in this case. Their eyes are not something you want to ever take a chance with. Does he have the opportunity to clean the eyes? Like are you misting and for how long?
Okay I will change that, thank you! And do you know if chameleons get shed stuck in the eye? Because it all started with him shedding and then eye scratching then to the accumulated eye fluid.I'm using a t5 HO 5.0 reptisun and a 75 w heat bulb

So your definitely going to want to find a good reptile vet near you while it is small like that it will be easier to deal with. Also I would avoid feeding him fruit. Their bodies do not process the sugars well.View attachment 317305
This is him now, it's like a cap over his eye, he can see from the corner of his eye, because it's flapping, and once again he is taking it off. But it's the 2nd time it's happened
Thank you so much for your help.So your definitely going to want to find a good reptile vet near you while it is small like that it will be easier to deal with. Also I would avoid feeding him fruit. Their bodies do not process the sugars well.
This is a good husbandry program to read through as well. https://chameleonacademy.com/chameleon-husbandry-program-getting-started-with-chameleons/

Okay thank you.I would suggest removing those rough vines. Chameleons will rub their eyes on vines and branches and these vines are like sandpaper and pieces can become dislodged and get in the eye or their eyes can get scratched.
