Does anyone use this for their chameleons? Does anyone have an opinion on it at all? I wanted to know because I have been loooking into misters lately and the Mist-King setups are way to expensive, all I can find is like $200.00 set ups. I did look at the Habba Mist system because my friends have it but I am not too sure. Let me know guys, thank you!

The most basic MistKing setup is $100 USD. I think the monsoon is very close to that. I have two MK setups (the Ultimate Value one) and I am exceptionally happy with them.

The timers that came with the systems aren't the best quality though. I had two fail within 3 months (one was broken out of the box, brand new). Marty never got back to me about fixing/replacing them. Usually he's really good about responding to questions.

There's a MistKing vendor in the US you can buy from so you don't have to pay crazy shipping from Canada.

Just looked at the MistKing website and apparently he's on vacation! That explains why I did not get a response about the timers =)

Also...
We will be closed for vacation until Aug 6. All orders will be processed when we get back. In the mean time enjoy 10% OFF store wide. For immediate shipping, please order from one of our distributors.

WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RESPOND TO YOUR VOICE OR E-MAIL DURING THAT TIME.

I use the monsoon I scctually have two and run 6 nozzles off each np the timer and duration are built into the system which is a bonus and ver easy to access the pump and electrical.imo I like em

I would say don't waste your money on monsoon. I think it is a hit or a miss whether you get one that's timer works. I have had 3 and I would say they look good , they are quiet but the timer leaves a lot to be desired. I chose the mistking which costs much the same for the starter system. I have also used the habbamister but there is no comparison.

I bought the MistKing from Canada (the starter set @ $100). The timer was defective out of the box and after emailing Marty back and forth several times, he finally replaced it. Unfortunately, this whole ordeal took about 3 weeks to resolve.

Once i got the replacement set up and programmed, I love it. I have a 3 gallon "rubbermaid" container to hold my water and that fits nicely out of sight. It seems to last FOREVER before I have to fill it up again.

I also bought a Habba Mist System for my outside enclosure. Although it is pretty loud when it comes on, it works fine and is "adjustable" enough to fit my needs.

The feature I like most is that it can also run on "C" cell batteries, so, now I have a back-up system in case we have an extended power failure here in FL. The nozzle is adjustable so you can have a fine mist or a more concentrated flow.

The downside to the Habba is the relatively small water reservoir. I have to watch ot close and fill it regularly, buit that's no big deal since it WORKS GREAT.

If you have one chameleon this thing is perfect. Aside from the super fine mist and quiet performance, the next greatest part is if you DO forget to refill your water (hopefully not for too long, since your chameleon wouldn't have their water...) your pump isn't going to burn itself out!

Gary - Interesting... my first timer failed after 3 months and the second was broken out of the box. I am still pretty sour about it. It has been a week and my wife and I have been manually putting the mister on and off for 2 minutes every couple hours.

I decided to take apart the timers to see if I could fix them and the soldering inside makes me CRINGE. When they're working, it's a fantastic timer but I am not impressed with the internals. The solder joints are dark and cloudy. It looks like poor quality control.

Having said all that, the pump performs very well (I have two that I use) so don't let that scare you off. Could be we just got lemon timers.

If the timers burn out easily, why not just set it up so its on constantly and add your own timer? Surely its better to do that than take the risk and not give your chams a drink that day.

I've had both the Monsoon and a Mistking. The Monsoon is C-R-A-P. Some of them work, some of them don't.. straight out of the box. I was "lucky" enough to get one that worked, for 6 months. Then the pump decided it didn't want to suck up water anymore. The "mist" is more of a spray. I called Hagen and they sent me a replacement. It has been sitting on my floor unused since. A brand new Monsoon. It wasn't worth the time.

I bought the cheapest Mistking (AKA starter kit) last month. The setup took a while, but it was totally worth it. I got free shipping from Canada (which I think is going on right now) and it is one beautiful machine. No problems at all. The mist is a mist, and my Chameleon literally runs to it. I've never seen such a thing. I've had humidity problems since day one with my Panther's cage.. now I don't. I went out of town for a week after setting it up. I came home, checked the hygrometer and the humidity never went below 58%. It is a godsend.

*Exo Terra Monsoon - $120+ tax/shipping
*Mistking Starter Kit from mistking.com - $104 without shipping

I use a Monsoon. It works great, no problems and I really only need to fill it up once every few weeks. The water doesn't go stagnant because there is no airflow to the water, and it stays relatively warm. Works for me.

EDIT: Some people have had problems. I've had two, both worked flawlessly.

I thought the Mistking was more that $99, saw one for $190 and realized it's too much so I went with the Monsoon for $80 on amazon. So far I like it but the only problem with it is the crappy nasal. Read reviews and a lot of people had their crapped out within months, I'll just have to wait and see.

I'm pretty sure you can buy new nozzles if that happens.

I really like my mist king too. I also had a problem with my timer but they quickly replaced it. I'm actually about to upgrade my pump this week.

I guess it depends on your luck sounds like both use crap timers(only problem) myself both monsoons work great and no problems timer or otherwise. I like the fact that I can have a remote aswell so my system can sit up above all my cages and it helps with pressure I'm sure.nozzles are cheep enough I think there like 2for$10 with suction cups I believe
