Exo Terra Dual Top Canopy question regarding which bulbs to use?

I have the Exo Terra Dual Top Canopy 36" Fixture and I plan on using it to run across two of my 18" cages.

Does anyone here use this fixture? What bulbs do you have in there?

I was thinking of using one 6500k bulk and one UVB bulb but I am not sure which ones to order based on fitment. I know the Repti Glo 5.0 bulbs fit, are these comparable to the repti sun 5.0?

Last question, do the GU10 35w halogen bulbs give out enough heat or would I be better off running a standard dome for basking?

Any help would be great as I would like to order the bulbs today. I have a wild caught nosy be that is waiting to be picked up!!! Need to get his cage ready asap!!

I'm pretty sure the measurements will fit any 36" tube bulb on the market.

Not sure if this will apply. But i had a 60w halogen bulb over my 5g planted tank and boiled a few shrimps. Water got really warm. So this fixtuer seems to have two 35w halogen bulbs. Might work, just test and monitor the temps b4 putting your cham in. Safe bet would be to go with the standard dome basking lamp.

I'm pretty sure it takes a 30" bulb and I think its a t8 not a t5 but I am not 100% sure. Nice Honda btw just sold my ek coupe with a k24/k20 setup...

Yeah I'm on there. Haven't been on there in a while, sold my ek bought an srt-4. Selling that this weekend and getting a benz lol I'm done with the thieves out here...

Never really got into the Srt-4 scene its just my daily driver lol but I know a lot of the honda people out here.

A quick search of your name on b20 and you got a lot going on in the honda game lol. A lot more into it than I was. As soon as I was ready to turbo my K someone smashed my window and ripped out my k-pro, then I pretty much lost all hope. I would definitely want to get another honda in the future when I can afford a house with a garage, right now Im in an apartment with no garage.

I had a 2000 s2000 with a 35r I made 450whp that was a pretty fun little car.

Yea, i'm pretty heavy in the Honda drag scene.:rolleyes: lol

I really like turbo s2000s. I drove one with a billet 6262, the car made a lil over 500whp and it scared the pants off me and i drive a 850whp Civic. He turned it down to 350whp and it was like a go-kart. did whatever you wanted it to do and handled like a dream!!

RWD cars scare me . No need for them to have more than 400whp! lol
 
unfortunately, this is why i steer clear of any of these "reptile" light hoods....they screw the sizing so that you are stuck ordering their lights (I'm assuming your 36" hood does NOT take 36" bulbs because the 3 hoods I have had do not take matching bulbs)


as for the bulbs, a 6500K for plant growth + a 5.0 UVB (both are equiv) would be fine, but I'd be surprised if you can find a 6500K 30" bulb (a 6500K 3' or 4' bulb from my local industrial light supplier is $2.99)


IME, most standard lighting comes in 12" 24" 36" 48" but none of these whacky exoterra/zoomed sizes



My 2 cents:
What I would recommend in all honesty is to ditch the light fixture you have, buy a $20 wally world T8 4' fixture and throw in a 6500K 4' bulb and a 5.0 4' bulb. If you need supplemental heat, just add a dome over each cage with appropriate wattage incandescent inside.
 
Would it be dumb to switch over to a reptiglo 5.0 instead of the reptisun 5.0 I am currently using. Cause I will only use this fixture if that is safe and if I can find a 6500k bulb in 30 inch.

I have seen them both used with good results (i think the issue was with the old Reptiglo coiled bulbs, that has since been fixed)..It also seems that the Reptisun has a longer life.
 
I couldn't find any 30" 6500k bulbs so I just purchased 2 exo terra reptiglo 5.0 bulbs. I am going to use this for the time being until I sell this fixture and reconfigure my setup for 48" shop lights. Money is tight at the moment so it will hopefully be within the near future.

Don't worry!! In 2 weeks LYR will have 30" Arcadia bulbs.

Because I have had so many requests for 30 inch bulbs for these hoods....
I will be getting some from UK in 2 - 2.5 weeks.
:)

Both the Arcadia D3 6% and the Arcadia D3+ 12%.

The Exo tops are nice.... and they will be even nicer with these babies in them !

Man too bad I already ordered these reptiglos....well either way I will definitely be picking up one of your UVB bulbs as well as the 6500k bulbs. Please sent me a pm when they are in stock if you can remember!
