Ever wonder, or does anyone know why chameleons can sleep through being eaten by crickets, but wake up if you turn on the lights for 2 minutes?

I assume it has to do with melatonin or another type of light sensing mechanism, but I don't understand how they can sleep through being eaten.

Yeah, I'm not sure but I reckon it must have something to do with being cold-blooded or 'ectothermic' as we have say on my course........
Night time total shutdown, light on - time to bask :)

That's what I was thinking. These are some strange little creatures.

On the plus side, in the wild if they get eaten at night it wouldn't be as bad as being eaten when they're awake.

If I were being eaten though I think I'd wake up....lol

The two veileds I had would sleep like babies. Nothing seemed to wake them up. One of them fell asleep with a locust in his mouth with dire consequences. My panther is still peeping through his leaves well after bedtime.:)

Aww:) Kuzco passes out as soon as the lights go off, no matter what strange position he is in.

What happened to your baby with the locust???
