Encouraging stretching, bad or good?

I have been placing my veiled chameleon's feeding cup pretty low in his cage, and in different parts, as that encourages him to move up and down and around and get exercise, and it also requires him to look for his food if not really to hunt. He always empties his cup soon after I place it. Recently the placement was several inches below a branch, and he needed to dangle from only his hind legs to get his head into the cup, and when done he pulled himself back up smoothly, which must take some mean ab and thigh muscles!

Impressive as it is, I don't want to overwork the little guy. Do you think making him stretch for his food is a good thing or a bad thing?
