Enclosure Shapes

I was curious if any of you have ever used enclosures that were shaped differently than the average rectangle cage? I plan to build a couple of terrariums soon and have been drawing out different options that I think would look nice and possibly be more convenient. I haven't seen any alternate designs so I'd like some opinions on if any of these would be better for a chameleon or if it wouldn't effect it at all. Have any of you owned/built/seen screen cages similar to these?

Anyway, here are some quick sketches of what I had in mind. I shaded the base and the top to create some depth and the inside floor is shaded with "pebbles".

I like the idea of a cornered cage. The pentagon would have 2 walls against the walls of your room and 3 open faced walls. The trapezoid is also cool because it would have the 3 open faces. Octagon is also possible.

The triangle could be cornered or flat against a wall but isn't space efficient. A diamond however could be cornered for a nice look. Then you have the "pizza" shaped triangle with a single rounded front face. Just think about having a room with a cage fitted into both corners of a wall or in all 4 corners of the room. It would look bad ***.

Did a little google browsing and this is what it would look like but with screen on the front instead of glass. The 2 back panels could be screen, wood, faux rock, or whatever since they wouldn't be seen from the outside and wouldn't provide ventilation when cornered.

I see them often on the dendro forums, but never for chameleons. Would love to see a custom hexagonal or cylindrical screened cham enclosure!

As a matter of fact, I've seen some cylindrical cham enclosures. For some reason, I'm not sure how they work out for the chameleons though. I'm not really sure why.

I knew they existed I just find it strange that some of these companies aren't building different variations for consumers already. I don't see how it could make any difference to the chameleon...

I'm going to start building a small trapezoid cage for sure. 12x12x12x24" and 30" tall should be good for a baby chameleon. If it works out then I may attempt a pentagon shaped adult cage.

Cost. Honestly any shape you can think of could be built for the right price, but most consumers already balk at the price of the simple rectangular enclosures.

There are usually a few companies that will make "furniture grade" enclosures to any shape and dimension you need for a few grand.

My father and I built a cage stand that's a square 2x2' base, and we kind of looked back and wish we made it fit into a corner! lol.

He hates when I put it straight in the corner and likes it diagonal, but I hate that wastes space in the corner that way.

I would go with any kind of cage shape really. As long as the dimensions are enough space.
