Enclosure outside help

Hi guys, so we are starting to have really nice weather here in houston and I'm gonna move my chameleon (ambilobe) to the balcony so he starts to get just real sunlight :) my concern is that in the balcony the sun does not reach all day. So should I still use my uvb or just adjust the timer so it goes on when the cage is in the shade ? And planing to move the cage today if possible.

I don't think you have to worry about UVB at all. If he gets a few hours of direct sun and then just gets ambient UVB in the shade that's more than enough to supply him with what he needs.

Remember to keep an eye on high temps and to provide lots of water on warm days to cool off the air and give him lots of chances to cool down if he needs it. A really well-planted cage is important when outdoors.

Thank you for the quick response Olimpia, you are always helpful :)

This is a pic of my current enclosure would you say is good enough o maybe get another plant like a pothos. I will also start with the less wattage bulb I have and monitor the temps and then change if necesessary .

You're welcome!

I would probably squeeze another plant in there, something live like a pothos or an umbrella plant. Live plants tend to hold in cool air in the middle and chameleons like climbing down into a thick plant if the day is getting a little warm. Plus it gives them thick shade if he gets tired of too much sun.

Makes sense. okay so I'll see if I can get an umbrella plant today and last question what about suplementation ? should I keep my suplementation schedule? or chhange it ? Right now I'm suplementing him with calcium every feeding, d3 twice month and multivit twice a month. I gutload my feeders

If he's going to be outdoors all the time then I'd skip the D3 altogether, he just doesn't need it if he's getting that much natural sunshine. Everything else can stay the same.
