Ellioti Pregnant?

Ok, so a long story short. I was after a new male ellioti to go with my lonely little female and i ended up buying the mother and a few of the remaining siblings. Dad died a while ago, mum popped a couple of babies days later and mum has since given birth to a further batch of 7 babies from retained sperm.

Now she is constantly basking, more so her belly than her back a lot of the time. I came home from work to find the other day to find her basking upside down with her belly towards the light.

Any thoughts? Is there a chance that she could still have had some retained sperm and is once again pregnant?

here are some pics:

She doesnt look like the typically gravid elliot but the female I had also didnt get very big and she dropped a retained clutch. I noticed all of my females loved to bask. All you can really do is wait and hope for a nice surprise!! She is in absolutely beautiful condition. What a superb animal!

thanks for the reply Cain, did your females who wernt gravid bask upside down though? its really funny to see as she is mostly on a thin branch with her belly to the heat:rolleyes:

Mine wouldn't bask with their belly up necessarily but they would certainly sit/bask and sleep in strange positions as their lower half grew heavy with babies. Here are a few examples from the bitaeniatus complex.

I think yours is probably gravid but is still in the early stages. I find the girls get a heavy look right away after mating or a retained sperm litter even though they won't give birth for several more months. I have to echo Cain's sentiment and say she is looking really good. One of the better examples of an ellioti I've seen in a long, long time. I'll be happy to take some babies off your hands. ;)

Good luck! Keep us posted.
