i notice about a 2 weeks ago some eggs in my pygmy tank. i havent touched them because i see where alot of people say just let nature take it course. I do notice where one of them is changing color. I am not really sure how long they have been there. My main question is: How long after mating do the females lay eggs? , because i bought the pair at the san deigo reptile show at the end of june, a few days after getting them home the male died it was sad, I was hoping to bread them and now she has laid eggs. Do they lays eggs even when there is no sex between a pair? OR Did I get really lucky and them breed and it was to much for him and he had a heart attack? That would be the way to go I guess.

i am new to breeding these worderful creatures and need a little help can some one help it looks as if 1 of the eggs is cracking open

It is possible that the female bred. I would let everything remain natural with the eggs for now and possibly get some fruit flies and a cage for a new baby. What does the egg look like?

well right now it is looking like a egg is cracked and something brown is coming out it wasnt that way about 3 hours ago so something i would say is happening . so do i need to get get a new setup asap. I see 3 eggs but there could be more . i havent relly moved anything to look but the eggs have little spots and there is one that has a yellowish area on it dont look that good to me i will try to post some pics tomorrow

I don't know how long it takes for pygmy eggs to hatch but it does sound like you may have a baby on the way. I am not sure but is memory serves me 3 would be a reasonable number for a clutch. Good luck and do post pictures when you can.

heres a few pics of these eggs. i had to move things around without moving the eggs that was fun. well I thought there was one hatching but I was wrong. Looks like there might even be 4 eggs. the one one the top right is worring me. and the one one the bottom is shrivaled up. While I was trying to get a pic to post I held a flashlight up to them and cant see any thing inside yet so I dont know if these are fertile eggs or not due to the male died back at the end oof June.
